Dark-colored suits and neckties have long been the uniform look for male office workers, but that has been changing in Korea, particularly over the last decade.

Park Sung-ho, an office worker at an IT company in Samseong-dong, said his company does not have a specific dress code so long as he doesn´t wear shorts.

Foreign visitors have noticed that more Korean men are choosing casual clothing for work.

Makoto Honda, a Japanese tourist touring Myeong-dong in downtown Seoul, saw the trend as one of the biggest differences between Korea and his country.

"It seems that the unexpectedly hot weather conditions of last month and the general trend of sporty and casual clothing have led to the recent preference for casual style," said Na In-kyung, a researcher at SFI. "Those who wore casual styles generally preferred to dress in gray and navy-colored jackets with various colored chino pants," the researcher added.
