Lead researcher Simon Crouch and his team conducted a cross-sectional survey of more than 500 children.

The results showed that the children of same-sex parents were on average six percent happier than the general Australian population when it comes to general health and family cohesion.

In the study, Crouch suggests this greater cohesion is because parenting roles and work roles are more evenly distributed within same-sex families compared to heterosexual families.
