see 와 look 그리고 watch의 차이점.

① see는 주의를 기울이든 기울이지 않든 눈에 들어오는 어떤 것을 보는 것을 말한다. 이러한 의미로 쓰일
때는 진행형을 쓰지 않는다.

 Suddenly I saw something strange.
 Suddenly I looked at something strange.(*)

② look은 집중을 하거나 관심을 기울여 무엇이 있는 살펴보는 것을 말한다. look은 전치사를 동반하지만
의문사절을 이끌 때는 종종 이 전치사가 생략된다.

 I looked at the photo. but I didn't see anybody I knew.
 He looked at her with his eyes full of love.

 Look (at) what you've done!
 Look who's here!

 Look where you're going.

③ watch는 뭔가가 일어나고 있거나 뭔가가 일어날 것이라는 것을 내포하고 있다. 따라서
변하거나(change) 움직이거나(move) 발전하는(develop) 어떤 것을 볼 때 쓸 수 있다.

 Watch that man - I want to know everything he does.
 I usually watch a football match on Saturday afternoon.

④ watch는 진행중인 어떤 것을 볼 때 쓴다. 반면에 see는 영화나 연극 혹은 공연 등을 전부를 본 것에
대해 쓴다.

 He got into a fight while he was watching a football match.
 He got into a fight while he was seeing a football match.(*)

 Have you ever seen Chaplin's 'The Great Dictator'?
 Have you ever watched Chaplin's 'The Great Dictator'?(*)

⑤ 일반적으로 TV를 볼 때는 watch를, TV 프로그램이나 영화에 대해 이야기 할 때는  watch나 see를
쓴다.

 You spend too much time watching TV.
 We watched/saw a great film on TV last night.

 Did you watch/see 'Snow White' on Thursday?

⑥ see 다음에는 if나 whether 절이 올 수 있으나 watch나 look 뒤에는 올 수 없다. 이 경우 see는
'알아보다(find out)'는 의미를 갖는다.
